Holidays are a great way to have some fun with students, faculty, staff and alumni.
In my office, we take a fun and lighthearted approach to celebrating many of these days. We always try to tie the holidays or themed days back to the university in some way when appropriate.
For the last few years, we have written fun Halloween feature stories. Two of my favorite stories include “five haunted spots on campus” and “events that explore UT’s spooky side.”
On Groundhog’s Day, we shared a video paying homage to the classic 1993 movie “Groundhog’s Day.” The video showed scenes on and around campus that our students know well. A few days ago we posted this cute video showcasing Punxsutawney Phil on Rocky Top.
Last year we even had some Saint Patrick’s Day luck. We “found” this four-leaf clover on the Ayres Hall Lawn and got an awesome picture to share on social media.
